Hi there!
How have you been? The GREEN IFM team is really excited about today’s newsletter, as we will do a little recap on our first ever FASHION REVOLUTION WEEK!
From the 11th till the 15th of April 2022, we hosted a variety of events at IFM Paris to engage as many students (and staff) as possible on sustainability. There were daily activities that offered the opportunity to learn and most importantly share about the topic.
MONDAY - Let’s start the week slow
From Monday on you could find the best selection of sustainable books (both in English and French) on the entrance table at the IFM library. We think it’s a great way to learn about the topic and explore parts of sustainability that you didn’t think of yet. Some must-reads? Dana Tomas latest Fashionopolis that maps out the history of fast fashion, cradle to cradle a by-now icon for product design and the library’s latest addition: “The Wardrobe Crisis” by Clare Press (the author has a podcast that we have mentioned before).
TUESDAY – Roundtable on circularity and upcycling
The first event of the week was the roundtable on two captivating topics: upcycling and circularity. We thought it would be interesting to invited different actors that are expert in either of the topics and learn about their points of views on both of the topics. It resulted in a super engaging discussion that captivated the whole audience. Thanks to Circle Sportswear, Commitment Fashion and Reiner Upcycling the audience was treated on a passionate and interesting talk.
WEDNESDAY – Film-screening the Price of Free
Everyone who saw the documentary was extremely touched by it. The movie follows Nobel prize winner Kailash Satyarthi on his quest to safe all children from child-labour. Since he started, he was able to save more than 85 000 children and reform the laws in India, while motivating a worldwide movement to stop child slavery. Missed the screening? No worries, the movie is still accessible for free here.
THURSDAY – Consume better with Refunk Upcycling and Rolling Fripe
A big day for GREEN IFM, as we welcome two very special initiatives. Refunk provided a workshop to create your own “mini-sweater” from old socks. A very easy project that appealed to many. It was great to see how everyone was engaged and participated! Another initiative that drew a lot of people to the atrium was Rolling Fripe, the second-hand shop on wheels. They parked their truck on the docs and brought their best vintage selection in the atrium. Many found a new piece or full look to complete their wardrobe in a sustainable way.
FRIDAY – Consume better with Rolling Fripe
Missed your chance on Friday? No worries, Rolling Fripe stayed the night and still had their vintage selection for sale on Friday, with some new additions. Yet again a great success, that asks for a sequel.
WOW, what a week! It was a pleasure to have the first FASHION REVOLUTION week at IFM and we cannot wait to see what’s coming next. So what was your favourite event and what would you love to see next? Let us know and stay tuned (follow us on Instagram), because more events are coming soon!
